Sheehan’s Cash & Carry is a family-owned and community-oriented cash and carry business. The Sheehan family have been serving customers in the south east for more than 100 years.
We’ve been in the wholesale business since the 1940s, serving retailers, the hospitality sector, catering operations, and more.

Sheehan’s Cash and Carry is a native Irish and family-owned business whose story in trading began in 1914. We were initially a fish and poultry merchants business in the early 20th century, with the bulk of the trade in salmon and chicken exports to the United Kingdom. In the 1940s, our great-grandfather, Michael Sheehan, embarked on his wholesale journey, providing local retailers with low-cost produce from the same warehouse located on the quay of New Ross, Co.Wexford. 20 years later we moved to a new purpose build warehouse and officially rebranded as a cash and carry, joining the National Wholesale Alliance.
Our family business has continued to grow and develop in the wholesale market in a wide range of products and services. In the early 1980s, we invested in a new 20,000 square foot warehouse moving to Wexford town and dramatically grew our loyal customer base developing a solid team of employees. Those employees have been central to our continuous drive forward since the 1980s.
We currently employ more than 20 people, most of whom have been with us since the 1990s, and our customer relationships are on first-name terms. We are now the only family-run wholesale operation in Wexford Town.
One of our significant milestones was our partnership with Stonehouse in 2000. Stonehouse is Ireland’s biggest wholesale company with a network of 24 family owned member companies. Established in early 2000, Stonehouse is the product of the merger between Keencost Centres (Ireland), trading since 1975, and the National Wholesale Groceries Alliance, established in 1961. In bringing together the wealth of knowledge and experience, Sheehan’s is a key part of Ireland’s leading independent wholesale supplier.
Our company has adapted, survived, and grown throughout the years, and four generations down the line, we’re still progressing. In 2020, we invested in a state of the art multi temperature controlled facility that allows us to store both fresh and frozen goods of which we now have over 1000 product lines.
Our vision is to continue growing strong as a reliable wholesaler for our retail partners and by continuing to cement our place as the south east’s go-to, one-stop wholesaler for the catering and hospitality sectors.
